Unfortunately and disappointingly, after several wrong turns to find the steps on the right path for the climb to Agia Sofia Chuch - the chuch was closed. The view on high was still magnificent. My husband and I were somewhat prepared for the trek - hiking shoes though only 1 small bottle of water for the both of us. 3/4... More

The church is very nice, but unfortunately it is closed to the public. The way up is a bit challenging is you're not prepared for it with comfortable shoes, clothes and water/ refreshments. Definitely keep climbing a bit more (10 min.) after you see Agia Sofia Church so that you can get to the top of the castle (Akropolis), where... More

It's a beautiful small church in very good condition but is rarely open so you only get to see it from the outside. It's still worth the walk.

The was a lovely church from the outside, but since we visited off-peak, and there has apparently been some problems with vandalism, the church was locked. I am giving this attraction a top rating based on our overall experience of the upper town of Monemvasia. The hike up is a bit taxing, but fairly easy for anyone in half-decent shape.... More

We went early in the morning and were able to walk through the Old Town before the rest of the tourists arrived and the shops opened. It was lovely, and a very different experience from the bustle and crowds later in the day. It was a lot cooler in the morning so we enjoyed the ascent more than some others... More

The hike up is a little challenging, but so vey worth it. Wear sensible shoes as the path can be slippery

We kept walking up to the top of the rock To the "acropolis" even though someone outside the church said there was no good path and nothing to see. We were glad we did because the views are stunning and the path was perfectly fine.
