This was originally the old Fremantle Lunatic Asylum. Used during WWII by the Americans. A lovely old building and well worth looking at.

Beautiful location in the old asylum. I've visited here twice on recent visits and exhibitions on both occasions were excellent. Cafe closes too early. Fabulous shop and reasonably priced quality artworks.

From it's great courtyard cafe to the gift shop stocked with stunning and original gems, the Fremantle Art Centre has much to offer. Whether it's a fantastic painting exhibition, an awsome photographic essay, or music in the courtyard, this is a wonderful Fremantle icon that really does have something for everyone. I enjoyed the art, especially a photo exhibition and the great cafe and gift shop

used to be an asylum and looks it but don't be put off. great local stuff and a terrific concert venue

We love to take visitors to the FAC - they lalwasy enjoy the grotto-like cafe surrounded with Fremantle limestone and lots of greenery, shaed with umbrellas - good food served with a smile. The courtyard music programme on a Sunday afternoon in the warmer months is generally free and very good. A nice little craft shop, galleries and an interesting building dating from convict days.

Trying to order food is difficult as the room is so tiny, very busy and line went out the door, could be better laid out. The outdoor eating area however is lovely.

the location on the map here is about 20kms from where it is, a really spooky place, former insane asylum, artwork ok, but not a place i want to linger in
