I went specifically to see the Batavia display. Was not disappointed. Great little Australian history lesson. Good DVD done by Hugh Edwards to watch... on a little tiny TV... ha! Looks like its been there since he filmed it!

Really enjoyed this museum and history of shipwrecks in West Australia. Well worth it to see the remains of the Batavia wrecked more thab 300 years ago with a bizare tale to tell.

The Shipwreck Galleries has a good collection of maritime history. Good site for short visit but don't get your hopes up too high. It's a good visit and a good value and close to downtown Fremantle.

My husband and I spent a couple of hours and could have stayed longer. We didn't get upstairs to see any exhibits there. To see 'Batavia' ship timbers was like being taken back in time. We would recommend a visit and more time to see it all.

Sorrowfully we only had 30 mins to spare before we had to get the tram back to the boat, but it is certainly somewhere I and my sister will be visiting in the future. You see conservation of parts that have been brought up during the stages of them preparing them for show.

Brilliant display of the Batavia. I've been twice now, and would go again.

Excellent exhibits of the Batavia including part of the original hull. Make sure to give yourselves some hours to see the whole exhibition.

You need to plan on several hours here. There is so much historical information and artifacts that you cant get everything in during one small visit. Although if you only have a little time it will still be worth to see the vast history that is right outside under the surf

We have been visiting these fine galleries for many years, from when the children were very small. And we still return for a look around when special events are on. Educational and informative, with meaningful local stories. We have loved the changing array of new exhibits, but always go back to see our favourites as well.... the Batavia skeleton has... More
