Had a wonderful long weekend in Alabama and golfing at The Shoals. I am a beginner and the course was challenging but not frustrating. Course was in excellent condition and we had nice weather in May. I am from the north and this was a very reasonable fee considering what we pay for a public course. Would recommend it for... More

Last October, we made a point to experience the Trail on our annual golf trip. We played Grand National, Capitol Hill, Oxmoor Valley, and Ross Bridge. All of the courses were very well-maintained, extremely reasonably priced (this is by far the most redeeming aspect of the Trail), and carved out of an amazing landscape. Please feel free to PM me... We golfed the trail in late March. Through the weather can be tricky we had good weather although occasional strong winds. The courses are in good shape though your conditions will vary depending on where it is located (north and south) and the significance of the course. The Ross Course outside Birmingham is the gem in the trail as it... More

Played 4 of the eleven locations 7/2009. The Shoals, Silver Lakes, Capitol Hill & Grand National were all fantastic in design & condition, but you better bring your A game! Mostly "parkland" courses with plenty of forest, lakes & sand. There is a links style course (the LPGA plays there in Sept) at Capitol Hill that is in stark contrast... More
