We stayed at Big Pine Creek in the middle of may 2011, this was our first time up at big pine creek and is now my new favorite spot. First off the place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! I found my self constantly stopping with my jaw dropped at the surroundings. There was still snow on the mountains, pine cones flood... More

My husband and I did the Methuselah Trail. It was an amazing hike. It makes you a little short winded if you are from a low elevation like us. We used the hike to get better acclimated to do the Mt Whitney Trail in Lone Pine. The trees are amazing to photograph. It is amazing to think that the bristlecones... More

We walked the 4.5 mile trail on 8/29/11 Truly amazing and wonderful. We bought the$1 pamphlet and read it at each # from 1 to 24. So worth the $. Took us 3.5 hours and we are reasonably fit. The drive is very curvy and takes 45 min. From Bishop! But well worth the time! 1/2 day for total time... More

ditto the earlier review , save we did the shorter hike. The views from here are spectacular. You stare across to glaciers from the last ice age. It is remote and peaceful. Well worth the detour, adding about 2 - 21/2 hours to the trip. There is a small office where you can buy guides, postcards and water.

Traveled here for a hiking trip in July with two other people. The drive from Bishop up into the White Mountains was just beautiful with expansive views of the Owens Valley and Sierra Nevada mountains. We drove to the Schulman Grove of Ancient Bristlecone Pine trees which is in a remote and high setting at 10,000 feet. There is a... More
