The Elk and Bison Prairie is a deceiving attraction. You pay $5 to drive around a nice, large field of grass continually expecting to see an elk, a bison, or even any other kind of wildlife. Unfortunately, the only sign of wildlife to be found is the occasional "gift" left behind by the phantom animals. It was a terrible disappointment... More

My husband and I went there for our seven year anniversary and the place was kind of disappointing but beautiful at the same time. First we rented bikes...which the chain skipped and clanked the entire time making it difficult to enjoy the ride. So we then went to Lake Energy and rented canoes and we waited...and waited only to be... More

I am fortunate that I only live a short drive from the Land Between the Lakes. It is a wonderful area that I utilize often. The Planetarium is a must stop – it really is a gem in the woods. It has great air conditioning so go in the middle of day when it’s hot. Their sunset canoe trips are... More

We've enjoyed biking the Canal Loop Trail twice now and each time, it's as nerve-wracking and exciting to take on. Trail goes in/out of the forest, along the lake with great views for breaks. Information station is very helpful with maps. Highly recommend spending a day here.

The planetarium at the Golden Pond Visitor Center was a real treat for all ages. They change the show on a regular basis so I am going back the next time that we are in the area. The adjacent elk and bison prairie was also fun.

our family of 28 spent the week-end in lbl..went to the elk and bison prairie early in the morning as we were instructed to do, paid $5.00 a carload and saw nada, no elk, no bison, no anything, moving on to the planetarium... paid $4.00 to be shown a movie you would show to a group of 1st graders, very,... If you enjoy the outdoors and unspoiled beauty, this is a great place to visit. There are lots of campgrounds but I stayed nearby at Lake Barkley State Resort Park. We started at the Golden Pond Welcome Center just off Hwy. 68 near the park's center. There is an exhibit explaining how the park developed, a gift shop and a... More

This was our first time to Land Between the Lakes and we really enjoyed it. We are nature buffs and there was plenty to do - hiking, canoeing, elk and bison prairie (awesome), and planetarium. It was a beautiful setting and not overly crowded. The one downside for us was that we stayed at Energy Lake Campground and were a... More

This is a special place for those that enjoy low traffic, low commercial enterprise and more nature. We visited the Nature Center, the Homestead, the elk and bison prairie and more. This peninsula of land between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barclay is a haven of wildlife, trees, nature and water sports/fishing. We crossed the bridge onto the peninsula in Kentucky... More

If you're looking for a quiet campground inside the park, you should check out Energy Lake campground. Great well mantained campground with spacious sites, several with lake access. Energy Lake is located almost exactly in the middle of the park so it's a short distance to access and explore all the park has to offer. The campground hosts are so... More
