Getting to Jefferson Memorial, as well as to many of the other D.C.'s monuments, requires a lot of walking. There is no Metro line near this monument, so if you don't have a car you will have to walk from the Mall something like 2-2.5 km to get there. The walk can be very pleasant off course, but only if... more

I absolutely love this memorial. I like it best in the evening around sundown or after sundown. I have never experienced as much of a crown at the Jefferson Memorial as I have at the other memorials/monuments around DC. It's a little bit of a walk but well worth it. I like the quotes/speeches engraved in the memorial. more

We visited the Jefferson Memorial and FDR Memorial Park in the evening, on the first night that we were in D.C. Part of me wishes that we were able to get back to them during the day, but I do believe that, especially with the park, the night visit made a dramatic impact as well. The park is laid out... more

This is a must see for anyone visiting Washington DC. It is a bit of a walk from the Mall area but don't let that keep you away. If you can visit while the Cherry Blossoms are in bloom, make sure to go, it is the best time to see the Memorial and the Tidal Basin area. more

Happened to be reaching the Jefferson Memorial at sundown and it was a beautiful scene that no words can do justice. The view out over the water of the sunset and the memorial is timeless. Quite a hike from the Lincoln Memorial but worth every step. G Man more

it was quite a walk around the tidal basin, but the jefferson memorial was worth it. personally, i loved it. not as crowded as the lincoln memorial, and no lines. i think it is overlooked. you can rent a paddleboat and boat across the basin, which i think will be really awesome and not as tiring. it's beautiful inside, with... more

Visited the Jefferson Memorial on July 4, 2005. What a moving memorial. Take a few minutes to read the inscriptions on the memorial walls. The statue of Jefferson is quite large but simple and elegant. The view from the memorial to the White House (FDR cut down the trees so he could see the memorial from the White House) and... more

I really like this memorial. When my teenaged brother came to visit this was his favorite memorial. It is a beautiful backdrop for the Tidal Basin (part of the Potomac River). It is the "round memorial" if you are seeing it from the road or air on your first trip to D.C. This area is particulary beautiful during the Cherry... more

The Jefferson Monument sits atop a small hill overlooking beautiful waters. It is a calm place, with white marble and great quotes etched high in the walls. There is a very large statue of Jefferson in the centre, and a wonderful exhibit on his life downstairs. Jefferson was a man of many talents and this memorial does a great work... more
