You studied them in school, they are part of our common vocabulary, we reference them regularly. Why not see them for yourself? The day we went, we got there around 2:30 p.m.on a weekday. A very short wait to go through security. 5-10 minute wait to see the Declaration, Constitution and Bill of Rights. It is in a very dark... More

Always good to see the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. There was a long line outside, this is only to get through security. There was a short wait to get into the Routunda to view the main documents, otherwise, the entire Archives was available. Across the street there is a beautiful scupture garden, great for picnic, or eat at the... More

The original Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights with information about each. To see the actual documents is really nice and doesn't take too long.

Visited the National Archives one morning to see all the great historical documents that are there. Arrived slightly before opening time and waited in line to get in. The line moved relatively slowly and took about 30 minutes to get in. The good stuff - i.e. the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, are in the Rotunda. That's where everyone... More

This is an interesting experience. I would not recommend it for a first time visitor since there are many more attractions that have more to see. The three documents that are on display are very hard to read. You have to wait in a crowd, then get in another line to actually view them. The displays and movie that explain... More

If you've just visiting to look at the collection of documents on display, it can be a long wait. That said, it's still definitely worth it.

On top of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, it's like sniffing around american history and popular culture: you can hear a private call from Kennedy taped secretly in the Oval Office, read the arguments of the Nurembegr Trials, or the comission about Aids, see pictures of kids that became presidents and 1st ladies. It's endless and free as... More

This is a must do. Not only can you see documents that form the foundations for the nation the United States is today, but the archives exhibitions display som real nuggets of cultural gold. Charming letters to various Presidents, accounts of events of national and global significance and some fantasic photographs. It's also interactive enough to keep kids relatively happy.... More

We spent about three hours here and could have spent a lot more time. Seeing all of the originals documents and talking to the staff in the census area, brought american history to life. A 'must see' when you are in Washington.

I think this museum does a great job of describing why our founding documents were necessary (important for young ones to know before seeing them) and displaying them. The building is gorgeous, too.
