Was at the museum recently and had a great time! You could easily spend the whole day. The exhibits are great and the building itself is beautiful. If you go in winter, there is a coat check available. Lockers of all sizes. Costs a quarter which you get back. Will save you from lugging coats, umbrellas, baby items all over... more

Great place to bring kids. The museum is right on the National Mall and is free and includes many exhibits from numerous dinasaurs and other stuffed animals, an incredible gem collection and even some living insects (giant centipedes, cockroaches, etc.) more

This museum is a zoo --- both literally and figuratively. Figuratively, especially if you visit during a 3-day weekend! Still, it's worth a visit as there are many fascinating exhibits. In addition to the dinosaur skeletons, there are other animal skeletons. Plus, there is the "Hope Diamond". Once you're in the museum, pick up a free directory at the information... more

My husband and I took our 13 year old nephew to Washington, DC in June of this year. We loved it. There is so much to do and see in DC, and much of it is free. Our nephew chose DC for his trip after seeing the movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonians. It turned out to... more

If only there had been a clear entry and exit path. Spent more time fighting the foot traffic and could not get close to many exhibits more

We enjoyed this museum, mostly because we decided to pick and choose the exhibit halls we wanted to visit. It made our trip through the building much faster. Don't feel that you have to look at every single thing! You can also pick and choose the items you want to see in an exhibit hall. We didn't hang around marine... more

We recently visited DC and went to the monuments and museums. The museum of natural history is one of the best attractions in DC. It has so many animals (taxidermied) from so many countries, many that are unusual, and we learned so much about them! It is a wonderful place for kids of all ages to learn about the earth... more

There is so much to see here. Try and go on a weekday so you avoid the weekend crowds. We were there on a Friday and it was much more crowded that the Air and Space Museum was on Thursday. We really enjoyed the Dinosaurs, Mammals and Rocks and Minerals exhibits. They have other exhibits that were ok, but we... more

I believe the best part of going compared to the first time was the folks in Washington funded the money to put up some chicken wire (almost transparent) in areas that used to be covered in pigeons. The wait outside of building like the Smithsonian thus was a lot less of a pain. This was the only Museum me and... more

After visiting the museum, we went to see "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" at the IMAX theater. We enjoyed it thoroughly. Ticket prices were $12.50 for adults and $11.00 for youth 2-12. A little bit high for what we are used to paying, but being that is was in the Smithsonian we splurged a little. more
