I climbed the Washington Monument when I was in high school returning many years later as an adult. However, as an adult I should have known better and first checked to see if any DC attractions were closed. I learrned my lesson, for not just DC, but everywhere I now visit

Has been closed since the august 2011 earthquake. Repairs have not even begun, which is really sad.

I visited DC around 10 years ago and was able to go into the Monument, which was really great. However, now you just stand at the base and look up, no one is allowed in. It was amazing to see the monument in person after seeing it on TV so many times. However, after a small earthquake in the D.C. area last August, the monument elevator is closed so you will not be able to travel to the top of it.

Years ago I climbed he steps and the challenge and view were worth it. Today it is closed due to the earthquake damage. I really hope they can repair it because it's a piece of history that needs to reopen to the public

This is a must when in Washington. You will need to arrive at the ticket office very early as the tickets sell out very quickly. It is well organised and the views from the little windows at the top are very good.

The History was wonderful. Just the whole experience was great.
