I enjoyed this low key elevator ride to the top of the old post office to see the city. It really helped to get a birds eye view and orient myself to the city and where things are in relation to each other. After walking what seemed like miles between museums this view was a pleasant surprise. more

We read about this tower in a guide book and two of our Tour Bus drivers recommended it. It was just right. No waiting in line for the Washington Monument, OK food court (my daughter was happy....all I could ask for). Couple cheesey shops, but the place was quiet and clean on a busy weekend. The place was advertised in the local tourist mag as having great shopping and food, great for kids, plus a superb view from the tower. The Old PO building is a great throwback to early Washington and you can get to the top for FREE. Superb views in all directions and elevator access means its easy for all. You definitely get a great view of the city from the Clock Tower. You get an extra bonus of some great history on the building, if you're into that sort of thing. Great views of DC and it's free. Not as tall as the Washington Monument and the views may not be as good but I have never had to wait over 10 minutes to go up and no waiting for tickets either. Inside it is a pretty cool building with a foot court and some gift shops. Well worth checking out! more
