We were walking back to our hotel from DuPont Circle and decided to check out the Phillips Collection, which is housed in a venerable red brick building in a residential neighborhood. We were really glad we did. The collection Includes paintings and photographs from the 19th through the 21st centuries. There are many of the French Impressionists represented, as well... More

A small number of good paintings but hardly worth the effort to get there or the entry fee. Eccentric layout is rather self indulgent and unhelpful. Don't bother!

It's a terrific collection that includes Renoir's "The Boating Party," one of my favorites. Worth the price of admission.

I love the Phillips. Their collection is impressive for a private museum located within a house. Don't let the house fool you though, its pretty large and will take a substantial amount of time.

Very Stuffy. Some of the works could have been done by third graders. The Smithsonian's portrait and sculpture gallery is a much better use of your time.

For those that like art, this is a special place. For those on a mission to see Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party visit on Tuesday when admission to the permanent collection galleries is free/by donation.

This museum was the home of an early collector of impressionist art and is full of treasures from the early through mid-20th century. I've been to many wonderful exhibitions here...plus the gift shop is great.

Combining an old home with a modern extension, this museum houses some true treasures. Small. Manageable. Absolutely worth a visit.
