amazing memorial that doesnt really explain who he was or how he died. I would have liked to have seen some more history at this place.

From the Blue Line Metro expect to walk more than a mile or so across the National Mall. The monument is towering and powerful. Great experience.
although the memorial is less than impressive upon approach, standing beneath the awesome figure of MLK,Jr is exceptionally moving. They say this memorial is aligned directly between the Jefferson and Lincoln Monuments, what could be more fitting? The white stone is stunning and the setting is so beautiful. A fitting tribute to a truly great human being.

Very nice! Very educational! You must visit if in the area!
The Martin Luther King Jr National Memorial is located between the FDR and Lincoln Memorials. If at possible try seeing it at night. There is a walking path along the water that takes you to the FDR memorial...

The newest Memorial dedicated in August 2011. The enormity and strength of the granite reflect the dreams he had. His image faces the Tidal Basin and the Stone of Hope and the Mountain of Despair show the struggle in pursuit of social equality and peace.
The visit was awesome! The sculputers were very emotional! Great place for a pic-nic!
The design of this monument is much neater to see in person than I';d expected based on the pictures and video I'd seen. Very cool!
