amazing memorial that doesnt really explain who he was or how he died. I would have liked to have seen some more history at this place.

From the Blue Line Metro expect to walk more than a mile or so across the National Mall. The monument is towering and powerful. Great experience.

although the memorial is less than impressive upon approach, standing beneath the awesome figure of MLK,Jr is exceptionally moving. The rock/boulder structures reminded me of movie props and I felt disappointment upon finally being able to view the memorial. However, when one stands in front of the boulder where MLK emerges, the carved rendition of him is poetic and beautiful.... More

They say this memorial is aligned directly between the Jefferson and Lincoln Monuments, what could be more fitting? The white stone is stunning and the setting is so beautiful. A fitting tribute to a truly great human being.

Location was good...among the great things in Washington. The memorial was simple, yet made a statement ( like MLK himself). Busy.... but a peaceful place, a place where it seems like people of all types come together for that “moment” and feel the as one. After leaving the memorial that feeling seems to roll back into the hustle and bustle... More

The Martin Luther King Jr National Memorial is located between the FDR and Lincoln Memorials. If at possible try seeing it at night. It's less crowded and you could probably even find parking right there. The memorial overlooks the tidal basin towards the Jefferson Memorial. There is a walking path along the water that takes you to the FDR memorial... More

The newest Memorial dedicated in August 2011. The enormity and strength of the granite reflect the dreams he had. His image faces the Tidal Basin and the Stone of Hope and the Mountain of Despair show the struggle in pursuit of social equality and peace.

The design of this monument is much neater to see in person than I';d expected based on the pictures and video I'd seen. Very cool!
