Our drive through the forest was stunning. There was a great deal of fall foliage to see, and much of it was well away from the towns that scattered the landscape. This was well worth a detour, and provided us a more scenic (and faster we thought) route to the Cass Scenic railroad and National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green... More

This is a beautiful park, huge expanses and very few people. We learned about various trees in the park. The waterways and waterfalls are amazing. This place is secluded and takes a long trip to get to, but it is worth it! We are going back in the spring for the ramp festival.

My husband, myself and our dog spent an enjoyable vacation last year(2008) in the Monongahela National Forest at a cabin called Riffles, located on the Shaver's Fork of the Cheat.
