We needed something to do one day on our vacation and took the kids to Goldfield. The 20 minute train ride was pretty much a rip off. It just goes vey slowly around the town. We could have walked it faster. The guide does give the history about the town. My husband took the kids on the mine tour. They... more

I think with this place it's all about the attitude that you go in with. We had done the Heard Museum, Desert Botanical Gardens,Phoenix Art Museum,etc.etc. So we were in the mood for a little tackiness. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but if you have only seen the palm trees and sodded lawns of Phoenix/Scottsdale it... more

We had a good time, and our 11-year-old thought it was cool! They don't charge for you to just come in and walk around, but they charge for each thing individually. You can't see the reptiles without paying. We took the mining tour which was cute. They did a good job of explaining how they used to mine, although I... more

I have been to Goldfield 3 times. It is always a popular place to take visiting family and friends. While it is very commercialized as other reviewers have stated, it does give one a nice pretend view of the old west. Besides, there are some good sweets in the shops around town that make the trip worthwhile for return visits.... more

We had fun, but it isnt a must-see. You do get an incredible view of the Superstition Mountains though. If youre a fan of the Old West etc, you'll enjoy Goldfield. Goldfield is on the Apache Trail and there are many attractions on this scenic road so dont spend a whole day here. And just driving the road is great... more

Goldfield is a present day ghost town, that was once a gold mining town, near Apache Junction AZ. The town is very touristy, with trinket shops situated in the old buildings. There is some of the old machinery around, and even a mine tour which was OK. There are some great views of the Superstition mountains and the condition of... more

I have visited Goldfield twice and have enjoyed it both times. The train ride was worth the $4 to ride around the town and hear about the area. The shops are great too--you feel like you are really in the OLD WEST! There are a lot of great western themed shops and a church at the end of the street.... more

We went to Goldfield Ghost Town today (mid September) and found the majority of things closed down i.e. Museum, Tourist Information, Tours, Bordello, Railroad and numerous shops. Only things open were the saloon, the mine tour, the reptile collection and a few gift shops. The staff in the shops seemed very disinterested. All in all a long drive from Tucson... more

People who are bored while visiting this charming Ghost Town are simply boring people. This offers any person, of any age, to explore a moment from the past. A visit here is truly what you make it. Enjoy the peaceful step back into a world without technological distractions...turn your cell phone off. Relax.... more

Was in Phoenix on business and had some time to kill so I took a ride up the Apache Trail and came across Goldfield. Entry was free, it was fun to walk around and look at the old vehicles and mining artifacts that are scattered around, and to go through the shops, which are mostly full of tourist junk with... more
