So much history...hands on and interactive. Plus...if you believe in the paranormal, it is allegedly haunted!

The tour of this ship was very interesting, and our guide had actually worked on the ship when it was in commission, and had lots of wonderful stories...

We took a four hour private tour of the Hornet. Our docent was a B School classmate who had flown off the Hornet during Vietnam. We went on an off day and saw areas not open to the public. Even if we would have been limited to the basic tour, it would have been spectacular.

A tour of the inside of the ship could take a long time if you take in everything. The restaurant/snack bar seemed to provide actual tasty food at not-too-bad prices, based on friends who ate there. I could have stayed all day sitting out on the top deck just enjoying the view. We noticed one lady who had a book... More

Takes a couple of hours, but do go on the ship and tour it. You won't regret seeing this piece of history in the historic City of Alameda.

We went here and had a blast. We got on one of the tours and saw one of the engine rooms. The lower decks are mostly closed off since the ventilation system doesn't work (which they need to keep air circulating to go down there), though you can go down a deck or two on a tour like we did.... More

Spent the night on the aircraft carrier as part of a large Boy Scout contingent. My grandson was absolutely overjoyed to participate in all planned activities and I was overjoyed to watch him. Yep, we slept in the same bunks as the sailors used to, ate in their mess hall and banged our heads if we did not duck through... More

This is a floating history museum. If you like naval history this is a must stop. Lots of interesting details about the Queen of the Pacific aircraft carrier.

Lots of history on this ship. Excellent exhibits, artifacts, including planes. Often special activities. Fun for kids, too. We like to end the day with a meal in Oakland's Chinatown, nearby.
