My husband, 2 kids (ages 4 and 1), and I really enjoyed the zoo. It is well worth the visit. Not only did the zoo have animals, but there were also mahogany trees, hot limp plants, and other indigenous plants. I recommend the zoo to anyone visiting Belize.

I wasn't convinced to go to the zoo in Belize, but when my friend who had been living in the area said it was a must, I conceded. We ended up doing the night tour (at her recommendation) and it was AMAZING. Most of the animals are much more active at night - so they were great to watch. The... More

Lawhoma with Belize Adventure hunters is the best! We met her when we were touring the Lamanai ruins and the friendly Canadian she was guiding told us we couldn't go wrong. The day my wife, my brother, and I spent with Lawhoma was a highlight of the trip. First a pick up at the ferry, "did we need breakfast? no?... More

If you want to meet one of the most famous animal in America, you must to visit Belize Zoo. There´s a interesting research and conservation program of jaguar. Body is a young and charismatic jaguar who lives there. Also you can see the tapir (Baird´s tapir), a large mammal who is endangered. It´s a great place in a beautiful country.

...it doesn't really come as a Zoo. It's not so big as you think. most of the pens are overgrowing with trees and bushes. (holiday on a farmstead are more fun)

This was a great place to visit. It gives you a good education of the animals, birds, plantlife, that you will encounter in the country.

Ordinarily, zoos are depressing places where animals are both confined and restricted as to their natural range. Some restriction applies at the Belize Zoo also. But here both limitations are considerably more elastic, with an emphasis on providing increased range of movement and where practicalbe establlshing barriers more "natural" to the animals' habitat. In essesence there are fewer barriers and... More

worth a 1-2 hour visit even if somewhat expensive by local prices just for a peek at animals we rarely see in other zoos

This is a small zoo, but it´s charming. Dirt paths, lots of trees and bushes and only local animals. Don´t expect to see elephants or lions, but you´ll get a lot of jaguars, parrots, macaws, monkeys, tapirs, ocelots, giant storks and wild turkeys. The flora is just as amazing as the fauna. When we arrived, the heavy rain reminded us... More

The zoo has native Belize animals kept in natural habitats. The best thing about the zoo is that the animals are not captured from the wild, rather they are rescue animals. Very educational and a great way to see Belize wildlife.
