We visited with an extended family group of 7, ages 12 to 52. All of us loved it from beginning to end. Our guide, Francisco from Pacz Tours, was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the jungle hike and the watery, spooky cave with bones and ceremonial pottery fragments. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED more

This is one of the best tours I've ever taken. If not *the* best. We had a wonderful guide from Maya Walks (you can reserve on line or in the town of San Ignacio) who told us lots of info about the Mayans. We had lunch on the hike in and then went into the caves. Absolutly amazing in there... more

We did the Achtun Tunichil Muchnal with Pacz tours as recommended by our lodge (Crystal Paradise). We were picked up at our lodge by the Pacz tour van with our guide for the day and a driver. Our guide Francisco(?) was very passionate about ATM. Don't wear bug screen or suntan lotion - damages the fragile cave environment. He was... more

Our group completed this trip through Mayawalk tours. hey were pretty flexible and helped us out when my wife sprained her ankle and couldn't make the tour. They refunded some of our money (had to keep some of it to cover sunk costs of food, park entrance fees, etc) This was the absolutely best activity we did while in the... more

The ATM is everything I had read about, an amazing place. The huge caverns, calcite stalagtites/-mites are breathtakingly beautiful. The government of Belize is doing a good job at providing limited access to this incredible site. There is Mayan pottery in many places, and they are marked off to insure that the visitors don't tread on them. And then there... more

Its an unbelievable feeling walking through the cave. You walk up river taking the same path the ancient Maya did over a thousand years ago. I would also recommend staying at Pooks Hill lodge which is walking distance from the cave. This allows you to get there before anyone else and experience the cave on your own. We didn't see... more

Of all the day trips we took while in Belize, the one I will remember most and longest is the day we spent going to Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM for short). It was simply spectacular, and only certain tour groups are even allowed to take you down (I think this was the only time we used Mayawalk.. for the most... more

After reading about this tour in Lonely Planet guidebook, my husband and I were determined to do it. A friend of ours recommended a tour company called Hun Chi'ik Tours, located a couple doors down from Belize Bank in downtown San Ignacio. Their small office is located in the entrance to The Plaza Hotel. We were not disappointed with our... more

My boyfriend and I loved the ATM! It was 100 degrees in the Cayo on April 4, 2009, and the ATM tour was refreshing, exciting and fun! We loved caving through water and there was definitely a tinge of danger because you could get hurt if you didn't proceed with caution, but nothing too dangerous! It was a bummer to... more

This was an amazing adventure and I highly recommend it to others. You are exploring a wet cave so if you're not ok with small spaces, darkness, (harmless) bats, and having to wade or swim across pools of water, then this wouldn't be a good experience for you. Overall, it's not too difficult getting back into the cave and there... more
