By far the best snorkeling in Kauai, beating out Ke'e and Anini. Don't stand on the reef! (something many ignorant(?) tourists were doing...it kills it!) Enter from the shore either from the north tip of Tunnels Beach or where sandy parts extended from the shore into the reef. A great variety of fish...no need to go out far. Parking at... more

This is an amazing beach. Parking can suck though.. there are about 4.5 parking spaces for a beach that holds hundreds and hundreds of people. This means, you have to include a decent walk along the road or the beaches. The road while involve being close to cars, and the beach involves being close to nude people (careful families). Once... more

We love Tunnels--but in the winter, we head for Poipu Beach and the adjacent Breneke's Beach. Good snorkeling, swimming, wave-riding. Surf shop near by. Plenty of parking--and wide expanse of beach--plus plenty of whale watching as a bonus! more

We only spent one day snorkeling, not including our HoloHolo charter, and wished we had the time to spend more. There was just so much to do on this island. We had read all the T/A reviews and weren't sure if it would be Tunnels or Ke'e. We did both and they both have their strong points, but the fish,... more

Parking here is a bit difficult...hard to find the side roads that have, like, 5 spaces each, and even harder to get into one of those spaces. You can also park further down the beach and walk to the area known as Tunnels Beach. Whatever you have to do to get here....do it. The beach is beautiful, and the snorkeling... more

The local dive shop advised us not to go there. They consider early April to be winter. We checked the surf report (http://www.kauaiexplorer.com/ocean_report/) and went anyway. Wow! I am glad I went. This is an intermediate snorkel, but it was terrific. There is access via two short - unmarked roads at between the 8 mile marker and the 9 mile... more

We almost ruled out going to this site for snorkeling in January because of reviews saying it is not generally accessible in winter months. But we need to advise that you CAN go if the conditions are right. We checked the surf report at http://www.kauaiexplorer.com/ocean_report/ yesterday and the surf was only 1-3 feet. We drove up from Poipu because we... more

This beach is wonderful . We went there everyday of our stay on Kauai. It is large, clean white sand and snorkeling that is GREAT. The snorkeling is right off the beach,so no swimming far out to see the lovely underwater scenery. There is also hiking in the area, for those that enjoy a hike and then hit the beach for a... more

It is a gorgeous beach but be warned. It is very rare to be able to swim here during the winter months. It is dangerous to even wade in the water past your ankles. The surf can be huge and suck you out to sea. more
