It is a small park but it is beautiful and historic and worth the 30 to 60 minutes and five dollars parking to see. The location is generally windy and rainy so be prepared.

The park is absolutely beautiful. It is also historiccally very important. It is a somewhat strenuous walk, but it is worth doing as much as you can.

Thanks to other TripAdvisor reviewers for guiding us to this park. It was a great stop as we explored the western part of Maui in our rental car. There are really three distinct sections to the park -- a small botanical garden, a climb up to a lookout, and a short trail down by the river. None of the trails... More

Cement paths lead you through this beautiful park filled with history. Lush trees, geckos, and plants fill the park. There is a fee for parking, restrooms, and an easy walk to a look out point. A must to capture the beauty of this island.

We had some extra time so we thought we'd take a drive up to the needle. Take an extra layer - it can get very cold up there! We went there straight from the beach, so didn't think ahead to bring anything warm to wear. It wasn't really "hiking" which was what had been advertised. It was a pretty side... More

My husband and I went to Iao Valley on Feb. 4, it was a Saturday. There were no buses there, so there was not a problem with over crowding. We $5 to park in the lot, but would have rather parked outside the parking lot along the road to avoid that charge (since we don't have any idea who that... More

We enjoyed our stop here. The land is very lush - tons of greenery. There is an easy hike up cement stairs to a lookout. The Iao needle is aptly named - it's a very pointy hill/mountain! We visited many years ago and don't remember the gardens and pathway below. They are a very nice addition. I would have liked... More

It is a nice stop if you are in the area but not at all worth a detour. The view is nice I guess but nothing special. There is no real hiking unless you call paved paths hiking. If you decide to go it does not take more than 30-45 minutes here even if you take it slow. Do park on... More

This was a nice little walk through some very lush scenery. It is easy to find, ample parking nearby, and overall, it is a very pretty area. It was on our way to another attraction and provided a very nice diversion in our day. I probably wouldn't make this a priority event in our trip, but it just worked out... More

This is something you should stop at if you are in the area. Lots of buses stop here, so be prepared to hang with a group. The walk up to the view point is easy, although there are stairs involved, so it is not wheel chair friendly. I watched a family prop their 100+ year old granny in her wheel... More
