I've done the RTH twice before and only found portions of the road past Hana a bit hairy but the drive down to Kahakuloa really freaked me out. We went to the blowhole and then turned back on this hwy. On the way back we stopped at several of the turnouts, got several AWESOME pictures and even saw whales! Highly recommended. more
I haven't been to Hana but I can not imagine it being any more beautiful than this drive. Keep in mind the road can get very narrow and make sure you have plenty of time before sunset we almost got stuck out there in the dark which would not have been fun. The road is narrow in places, but don't let that stop you. On a beautiful day when the visibility is real good make this trip. It is a much easier drive than the Hana Highway. more
