Loved the madness of the place but disliked the fact that anything you do you generally have to tip ie. asking for a photo to be taken you have to tip the person who takes it.

There is plenty of action in the square. Snake charmers, food peddlers - especially after dark when they grill food for you in the square, monkeys, tooth pullers, etc. They can be extremely pushy and no is not a word they understand.
