The Red Colobus monkey is unique to Zanzibar, and here on one side of the road the trees are younger and shorter so you can see the monkeys, as they are used to people visiting. If you want more than just an experience of the white sand beaches from Zanzibar,then head on to the Jozani Forest. This Natural reserve is very underrated but offers an amazing experience of the forest itself, the monkeys and(if you catch them in season) the crabs(+/- 50cm). I found the mangrooves fascinating. Small, small park...but the most amazing experience with the red colobus monkey. They were so many of them...which was so beautiful because they're so endangered. I'll never forget my time in this small park that was only meant to be a detour from the beaches. Lots of colobus monkeys, other animals, and beautiful views and people. more
