Beautifully tended botanical gardens with plenty of tropical and sub tropical plants and trees. Give it a couple of hours to wander around the gardens in an unhurried educational visit. My husband and I visited the gardens. We had a guide (about £1) who pointed out all the different plants and told us lots of interesting facts. We particularly liked the bleeding tree and giant lilly pads. Worth a look and a nice few hours to wander around in the peace and quiet. more

Formerly known as the Royal Botanical Gardens based in Pamplemousses. Although admission is free you should tour this wonderful garden with a guide. The gardens started in 1735 as a vegetable plot but over the years it has become a botanical treat, particularly for palms and other tropical trees.
