Punakha Dzong is the most historic and beautiful Dzong (Fortress) built in 1637 and 2nd oldest Dzong in Bhutan after Simtokha Dzong in Thimphu. Punakha is the former Capital city of Bhutan and today Thimphu is the state capital but the Buddhist Monk Body spend 6 Months in Thimphu during their Summer and 6 Months in Winter they live in... more

Punakha Dzong is the most spectacular dzong in Bhutan and worth worth a visit. It's only 3 hours drive from Thimpu and everything else pales into insignificance once you've seen it. more
