Kept really clean comparing to Hindu temples. Around the stupa, there are many shops and restaurants. You can walk around the stupa and go in. Nice place to take photos as the Buddha eyes with the colorful flags are impressive.

I went to Buddha Stupa during my stay in Kathmandu, I really like this Stupa. Normally i suggest visiting this in evening with sun set which makes very much different than day time. It makes change my mind visiting this Stupa for religious view.

This place has so much significance to the Tibetan people and apart from the colours and grandeur of the place it is wonderful to quietly watch the people as they perform their daily rituals.

If I had to choose whether to go to Monkey Temple or Boudhanath stupa, I would select Boudhanath. There's no view over Kathmandu like in Monkey Temple, but Boudhanath is bigger, more impressive and it feels more spiritual. Yes there are a lot of small shops around stupa, very commercial. Those still don't take away the special atmosphere. What to... More

Amazing collection of mercendise around the Stupa which is trifle expensive for the tibetan stuff you get otherwise - but overall a treasure trove for collectors. I happen to see the healing bowls there which were the best I have found anywhere thus far. And the sizes wereust amazing. They offerred a free trial as well. The lady with the... More

I just so happened to visit this Stupa on the Buddha's birthday, which added a whole new dimension to this amazing place. I like how this stupa is more open than the others, which allows you to walk around without crashing into statues or vendors. Very enjoyable.

Not sure why this is rated number 1 on TA. This is a big stupa and it is beautiful, but there is so much more to do here. I would recommend going to the stupa outside of namche with a view of the mountains behind it. It is a good way to kill part of a day though. It is... More

It's a very scenic spot in Kathmandu. Mostly because of the large number of pilgrims. The stupa itself is ... big. You can spend s at least about an hour at this place.
