we been in night time there, oh!! fascinating with oil lamps and devotees circle around the stupa. surrounding the stupa there are monastery and cafe. Really it is tranquility places.
This place has great atmosphere not too sure whether it's because of or despite all the tourist shops that surround it. To suddenly see the stupor after walking through an 'ordinary' street was breathtaking. Not a bad place to shop as there is a lot of competition to keep prices reasonable, after haggling of course
We stayed at the Happiness Guest House in the Bodnath stupa village two times because the vibes at the stupa are just SO good. If you do stay in the stupa village, check in before 9pm; the entire place is shut down by 10pm, and you'll have to make loud noises if you want a place to sleep regardless if... More
Wanna feel cool ? Be there in stupa and enjoy . Best place in kathmandu valley . Buddhist monks are very kind and appreciable there . Its an easy destination too.
If you can, come here for the sunset! Monks pray and sing in nearby. If you are keen on walking, it should tae you about 60-90 minutes from Thamel and you can see "real Kathmandu" on the way.
Kathmandu has plenty of sites & you can easily spend a week looking at them all, but we just love Bodnath. It has a calm Bhuddist atmosphere, pedestrian only area (take notice Kathmandu) & great restaurants.
Boudha Stupa and generally the entire area around are a wonderful experience. Once inside, there are no cars or motorcycles and the atmosphere is very peaceful. Watch pilgrims walking around the stupa, spinning the prayer mills or lighting butter candles. Absolutely magical is the late afternoon, when the sun is low.
Pretty cool place where you can walk around take pictures and have lunch on one of the rooftop restaurants. We visited on a beautiful sunny day with a view of the mountains in the distance. I would go here first before visiting the monkey temple as it didn't look as big as I thought it would.
It is set in the middle of a very busy part of town. But the moment you enter the traffic free stupa environment you think you're in another world. The size of it is imposing. The colors spread across it also. Walk the circle around it and climb on it. There are hundreds of shops around it, visit them, they... More
