Easy place to walk around as long as you don't mind getting pestered a bit by the kids. Good restaurants and fun bars all over this area.

Went there one night with my girlfriend and was unimpressed. A bunch of dirty bars, and kids trying to con you into giving them money. During the day, there were some cool shops, but I would rather spend time in my hotel room relaxing after being out all day rather than the nightlife here.

Plenty of inexpensive camping gear and tourist trinket shops. Shop around before you buy and get a rickshaw too, especially if you know what you are looking for... they will take you to the shops quickly and yes, they will take a commission on the back side but hey, it's worth the price of the rickshaw.
