(My last visit was 20 yrs ago). It is now more modern, neat and easy access via public transport. Renovated, it is modern and allows better flow and movement. But, the noise level made by Tour guide and tourists was alittle unbearable for me.

It has a vast collection & it would take quite some time if one would like to see the entire museum.
Put quite simply, this is the finest museum I've been to in Asia. I'm living in Taichung and a trip to Taipei means a visit to the museum. One day just isn't enough, it could take a lot of longer to really look at the variety and the beauty of the displays. I read that the museum curators only display...

Great place to see China's ancient artefacts, painting and calligraphy, statues of many eras, jade, bronze, iron, pottery etc. You won't find some of these in China and mainland Chinese come to Taipei just to see what they have lost.
An object's not only an object for using but also a tool to present the modern life style itself of the certain era, particularly we called these objects 'treasure', and we could review the truth of the past by these treasures!

The best collection of Chinese art is here. The KMT brought the best pieces over from the mainland in 1949, and so the quality is unparalleled. The audio guide is pretty good and enhances the experience. My favorite section was on the third floor where the "roast pork" and " "vegetable" precious carved stones are.
Go early to avoid the...

This museum houses the art collection that the Chinese Nationalists brought away from the continent when they retreated to Taiwan. As such, it has the best of the best of ancient Chinese art, especially when it comes to small items, although not much by way of recent discoveries.
Make sure you brave the crowds to see the jade collection and...

Amazing collection with all the highlights of Chinese art. Only drawback is the endless mainland Chinese tourists. Try to go around lunch or mid week when it's quieter.
biggest collection of artifacts in the world, this is a must see place when in Taipei. Expect lots of people, our visit was a guided one and that is preferable to see the most important objects unless you have plenty of time to discover them yourselves.
