The library opened in 1922 in a beautiful historic Italian domed building. It is about 1 km down Surawong Road from the busy Phat Pong Market area. The library houses one of the largest collection of English language books in Thailand and some are historic ones dating back to pre WWII. They also have an area devoted to art works....

This historic facility is a private library, where members (usually residents of Bangkok) may take out annual memberships to use the facility. There are a couple of other facilities something like this, but not in such historic and characterful buildings. If you are looking for a classic somewhat old-fashioned western-style library in Bangkok, this may be the place.
