Check it out first for the beautiful building and all the treasures inside and then learn how things in the beautiful Thai International silk trade were started and then try and figure out the mysterious story behind Jim Thompson and his disappearance. No one has figured it out yet as far as we know.

The house and the art collection are both exceptional and the tour was very well conducted.

Jim Thompson's home is beautiful, it's just not run very well. The tours are every 10-15 minutes or so and it seemed to be pot luck whether you got a guide who enthused about the subject matter, or one like ours, who recited learned paragraphs in broken english. The tour was difficult to follow as a result and we found... More

The house itself is great to see but the smell that wafts in from the nearby canal can be a bit annoying. It is within walking distance of the Pathumwan Princess Hotel and the MBK centre.

It's almost amazing that such a nice, low building has survived in the middle of all the high rises. It's an 'historic' house (though less than 100 years old) that shows how teak buildings worked. It's quite a lovely building, set in a peaceful garden, with lots of antiques. Unlike the average museum, the antiques are where they would have... More

It takes a bit of walking to get there (at some point you think you're lost walking down the Soi / small street after you get off the skytrain), but it's well worth it. You can actually see the complete "contents" of Jim Thompson's house, buy books about him and go broke buying the beautiful silk products they have, and... More

You may buy some extraordinary silk scarfes which you will not find in Jim Thompson shops in Malls or Duty Free. Unfortunately, the price is also extraordinary.
