I've always been sceptical about animal-related shows & refused to visit Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai as I've heard the tigers seem to be drugged so tourists can take photos with the tigers. But fellow tourists on repeat trips to Chiang Mai recommended visiting the elephant park especially since it's our 1st trip to Chiang Mai. We took a taxi... More

I thought this was going to be touristy which I generally don't like but the last time I rode an elephant was at the Bronx Zoo in 1967, so we went... We had so much fun! We watched the elephants take a bath in the river, then they put on a touristy show but, we did see the elephants paint... More

My wife and I chose a half day trip to the camp. We had an elephant each with an instructor for the afternoon. It was a great way to be up and close to the elephants, riding them bare back washing them, and being shown some simple training techniques. It is such a beautiful setting with a river running through... More

After a few days in Bangkok we flew to Chiang Mai which is slightly cooler. We booked our trips with Travel Hub before leaving the UK. Our tour guide, his name was Tree, and driver picked us up at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. They were very friendly and Tree was passionate about Thailand. The Elephant Farm and rafting was... More

I am always scepitcal about animal attractions at tourist resorts often ending up feeling sorry for the animals rather than enjoying myself as intended. However I can say that on this occassion I did not feel that way at all and my view on the day was that the elephants were not being mishandled or mistreated in anyway. Our visit... More

Myself, wife and 2 children (14 and 11) took a full day tour from Chiang Mai to do this elephant park. The tour, including collection from and return to the hotel, buffet lunch and tour guide cost us 900 baht each (about $30 AUS). The highlights of the tour include riding, feeding, patting and being 'kissed' by the elephants; an... More

I am 9 years old and my dream was to ride an elephant. When I got there I was very excited. I loved the elephant show and I was happily lifted by an elephants trunk. The ox cart was just to stinky. When I got on the elephant, I was so happy but when the elephant was trying to eat... More

My wife and I with a friend visited the Maetang Elephant Park as part of a one-day trekking tour booked through our hotel that also included a bamboo rafting trip and a trek to a waterfall in the forest. At the elephant park we had a 1 hour elephant ride but no show or bathing that other reviews have mentioned.... More

Most of the elephants are chained and appear exploited. The ride is in the heat and our poor elephant was very tired and stopped often. The show was a circus act and really sad. Ox cart ride was lame and mean to oxen. Rafting was a lazy ride. There was no educational experience.

One of the main reasons for my booking a trip to Chiang Mai was so that I could ride an elephant. I was really looking forward to it and was very cautious about picking a place that did not mistreat the animals. Due to a miscommunication with our cab driver, we ended up at this camp. We decided to go... More
