We did a one day elephant training at Jumbo. First off you get exactly what is described and in typical SEA fashion it's all a bit of a watered down version. The one thing I want to say is our tour operator "sun" was excellent as were most of the workers. The elephants looked healthy and seemed reasonably happy. If... More

As the title states, it is hard to rate due to a few factors. We visited jumbo like most others through a 3 day hike. The hike itself we were very happy with, but the elephant experience left me unsure. We arrived and had a ride on elephants which seemed ok but the route was crazy steep and the elephants... More

First the "guide" did not speak much english!! he did not introduce himself, did not explain how the day will go, nothing. went to orchid farm that was alright, then we stopped in a village, no point of being there instead you want to buy things, then went for "trekking", got lost, didn't even know where we were going, after... During our stay in Chiang Mai we had one activity that was considered a must do and that was to experience an elephant camp. We were a bit weary of booking just any camp as we didn't want to give money to someone who did not take care of the elephants properly. Having read our tour book we had our... More

This was really the most amazing part of our trip to Chiang Mai. There was only us and another family enjoying a full day with elephants, so it felt very private, like being in a family setting. I loved the fact that the entire camp felt very authentic - it's a real village with real people growing rice, tobacco, and... More

My friend and I ended up at Jumbo Camp after our tour with Baanchang Elephant Park got booked out. So glad that happened! It was the highlight of my Thailand trip. Our guide Kham was so friendly and being a former mahout himself knew so much about the elephants. He was helping us direct them and took pictures of us... More

An amazing day with the elephants! We did the one day trip, Nd it was just right. The guide was extremely friendly and could speak English well, the elephant ride felt authentic and was exhilarating, and the food was delicious. One other review here said that they prod and poke the elephants, which is true, but I think they misunderstand... More

We did this trip as part of our honeymoon, not just the day trip but the two days, one night elephant training. We both really enjoyed the experience and felt it was totally value for money! To clarify the stick is NOT used cruelly at all by the Mahouts, its a tool they use to communicate with the elephants with... More

The best experience of my trip that has covered Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. Outdid Angkor Wat and hot air ballooning in Vang Vieng. I have to STRONGLY disagree with the negative reviews given below. They almost deterred me from going. Thankfully, I didn't pay attention; you shouldn't either. Yes, the mahouts carry a stick with a spike on. However,... More

We recently returned from our trip to chaing Mai and chose jumbo elephant camp due to the price as we have three small children and wanted to give them the experience without busting the budget. We were picked up at 830am and by our lovely guide who spoke very good English , we stopped at a store on the side... More
