This place is set up as a tourist attraction but not your typical pushy-villagers-trying-to-sell-you-overpriced-goods, although when we first arrived, that was our initial expectation. This 'village' is clearly set up to cater for tourists. It is in such a beautiful valley, the people are genuinely friendly and welcoming and seeing the handiwork that goes into weaving the scarves makes an interesting visit. Please be aware that this is NOT specifically a 'street market'....it is an ecological, fully functioning village of tribes people from Myanmar, who happen to sell really inexpensive, but beautiful handicrafts, clothing, bhatik, etc... My wife and I spent 3 hours there before jumping on a flight to Phuket. The people were SO friendly, warm and welcoming, and NOT pushy.... More
