Its a must see stop for a first trip to Koh Samui, Amazing statue, great views of big Buddha bay & photos come out really nice to. Lots of little stalls & shops that sell trinkets & Buddha statues, can be a little expensive. Also found a shop that sells "Alien & Predator" statues made from scrap metal, a big... More

I don't believe it's worth the visit. The only impressive thing is its size and its view from the beginning of the steps. I'm thinking it was more like a bad construction and felt like a big tourist trap to me. Many souvenir shops around. But for those going for the first time I believe you have to see it... More

Big Buddha Temple is easily seen - a huge ornate figure of Buddah towers over the landscape. Lots of ornate shrines steps and figures are dotted around the base and the sound of bells ring out periodically. Very touristy with many shops selling trinkets surround the area.

He is pretty impressive and there were a few different things going on around him that were a bit different. Worth a look!

Respect the traditions. Enjoy yourself and take loads of pics. Try the Namung Safari tour, they are the best all inclusive all day package.

I have no idea how they build something like this but it is incredible to see! Beautiful buildings and friendly people.

Make sure you get your Thai Baht as money changer is outside of this area. Shopping here is worth a short browse through. Some lovely shops selling better quality buddha statues. Did not walk up to the Big Buddha as was too hot to climb the stairs - you get a better view of the entire Buddha from below anyway.
