We decided to visit here despite the poor reviews. We have visited zoos all over the world, so knew not to expect some grand exposition. I think you first have to remember that you are in Thailand. It is expensive to get in...some THB500 per person (about US$17). However we love these international zoos as they allow you to get... More

I visited phuket zoo, with a group of friends in march, I was told before we went it was a bit of a eye opener, by friends that had been before,on arrival there were heaps of Thai school groups, and the kids were having a blast. the zoo in a whole did smell. but that is what you could expect... We went to the Phuket zoo and was disappointed to see how dirty the place was. You can hardly see some of the animals or birds in the cages because of weeds/bushes/trees overgrowing the place and restrict your view. The elephants have chains around their legs, a bitter sight! We wanted to see the tiger, which we did and had... More

Overpriced, dirty, smelly, dark and full of barbaric treatment of these poor animals. I was shocked that Thai people could treat animals in a such a hideous manner. With the overpriced admission fee and a fee every step of the way if you want a photo with numerous docile drugged animals, you wonder where the profits are going. Certainly not... More

We found the experience upsetting to say the least, the animals are banged up in tiny cages, the elephants are bored out of their minds and the tiger was so "wasted" they were holding its head up to take pictures- I went along without reading reviews on the place assuming it would be a great experience like some of the... The Phuket zoo is a disgrace. Drugged animals being belted for not lifting their heads up for photos. Animals being kept in small concrete enclosures with holes in the roof. Unbelievable that a place like this can be allowed to stay open let alone call itself a zoo.

We went to the Phuket Zoo in April this year. It certainly is hands on with animals from monkeys to tigers they were all able to be touched. Certainly a unique experience for children and adults. With lots of photo opportunity available for a small cost. So take money with you. All is not free there. Yes it has some... More

Visited on the 5/5/2012 I felt so sad for these poor animals every review on here is 100% true. I wish I had read them first and wished I never had gone. Animals kept in small concrete cages with no plants, some just had mud to stand in. Emus had pulled out all their feathers and saw a bird with... More
