I visited Phuket in February 2008 with my wife. We stayed in Kata Palm Resort which is a first class hotel. Its located near to the beach and offers very beautiful rooms , pool , gym and spa.If you want to stay in this hotel choose the pool access rooms.They are worth the extra money. We`ve been to Kata Beach hotel with mom in Mar, ` 06. I have never experienced such cool emotions from the hotels (I`ve been to Jumeirah hotel in Dubai several times so I know what is the 5 star hotel). I would say Kata is a 4+* hotel. Just came back from Phuket, and learned how to surf at Kata Beach... so much fun!! What a great beach. Overall Kata is a more upscale and less "crazy" than Patong - by far!! If you are not on a backpacker's budget, this is a great place to visit. I highly recommend the Sugar Palm Resort... it was very fresh... more

kata beach is nice,less busy compared to karon and patong.clean,clear water is good for snorkelling,lots of pretty fish to look at,even saw a sea snake,moray eel.bars and eateries are good to,seafood is expensive in most places like the rest of phuket.kata noi is the next bay down and is smaller than kata.also looks nice but they were doing up the... more
