The museum is in two buildings that offer two different flavors of art. The main building offers some amazing contemporary pieces mixed with historical paintings. I gained a greater understanding of the mood from each period. The other building contained modern art installations with some interactive exhibits. The basement of this building contained antiquities.
We walked from our hotel in the Old Quarter - so very accessible. The 'standing' collection is excellent, particularly the collection relating to Buddhism stretching back into antiquity. The Exhibition on 'River Life' showing when we were there was challenging - very 'modern' and gave us cause to think.
wow, it is a must do in Hanoi, one of the best MUST DO in Hanoi and it is just empty since no hanoians are interested.
Lovely building - loads to see from prehistoric to modern day art. Particularly loved the Buddha statues
Some very nice displays of ancient, contemporary and political artwork in a quiet building in this loud and busy city.
I like this Museum very much, it show me a lot of beautiful art.
A great museum in Hanoi, but it is concerning that you can touch the exhibits easily, showing a lack of respect for the exhibits, some of which are thousands of years old. Well worth a visit.
Just across the road from the back end of the Temple of Literature. Some good art by Vietnmese artists including some good painting from the French and war periods and some very good sculpture - look out for the different depictions of the Buddha.
One has to visit the only Fine Arts Museum in a capital city.
