Price is very cheap if you buy wholesale, but for retail price is actually the same like anywhere else. Many hair accessories, bags, shoes, clothing and dry foods. But you can see its mostly made in china, where you can get from any market all over the world, cheers to made in china.
The atmosphere here is completely different from the Old city. What you will get is a bric-a-brac of mostly chinese products, very cheap but I have trouble finding something interesting.
Certainly not the clothes, or the bags, of the linen. As to the ustensils, beware : the chinese version of a swiss knife will have a very short life.

The average price of bags is $3 to $5 only. That is if you buy a minimum of 5 bags. This is so CHEAP! if you would compare it to the shopping stands in halong bay-- where the price of each bag cost about $20.
So if you want nice souvenir to bring home and give to your friends, go...

Live crabs and chicken, pineapple and mango, clothes, shoes, gifts ..... Fragrant spices .... A lot of cafes with tasty and cheap food. In my opinion - much more interesting series of street than in the main building. The main market of Hanoi - without it your opinion about the city and life style would not be complete. Frequently visited....

Dongxuan market is huge with lots of stalls spread over 3 storeys. But the traders don't seem interested to sell to tourists. It looks more for wholesale. Shops are tight and corridors narrow. Tough to walk around especially with kids, and with traders carrying large loads around the market. Some of the toilet stalls are without doors.
The market has 2 levels, with many shops. We went there in the afternoon , about 3 PM. It was very hectic and chaotic. We tried to communicated with the sellers; as we wanted to buy some of the shoes. But most of them do not speak English. Plus, most of them just told us "No buy, no buy". We...

Don't take the title of this review in the wrong way, but this place is indeed a wholesale mad house.
Mountains of jackets, accessories, clothing, souvenirs, fabric, bags, trinkets, lingerie, you name it.. fill the tiny spaces of each store. People rushing around, carrying massive bundles of stuff on their shoulders. Tiny young ladies shoving you aside as you are...
