“Nice to see during a bike tour in Hanoi”

We did a bike tour ourselves through the city of Hanoi. One of the attractions we wanted to see is this B-52 bomber. Alongside the road there's a museum but it was closed when we were there (on Fridays lots of sites are closed there). It took some turnings before we reached the wreckage in the pool. “A small but important piece of war history.”

After you are done touring Uncle Ho's mausoleum and environs, jump into a Xy Clo and head over to Huu Tiep Lake. It's a fun ride for a quick tour of a very small lake containing the remains of downed B-52 from the American war.

The lake is now a small pond surrounded by chaotic constructions and with a piece of metal in the middle. Only go there if you're a VN vet.

I went to see the wreckage of the downed B-52 in Hanoi in july of 2006. Not much to see really, the lake is small, maybe 150 meteres by about 70 meters, and the wreckage is at the back end of where you can view it from. All you can see is 3 or 4 tires from the landing assembly... More
