the palace...you can hardly call it that...is absolutely sad and dont bother visiting this place unless you're bored to high heaven. the palace has a huge garden and thats about it...they have a dining room and a meeting room used by the politicians in the olden day and in the basement they have radio rooms/bed rooms etc used during the... more

This is an absolutely beautiful structure in the central area of Ho Chi Minh City. The grounds on which it is located are landscaped to perfection. I definitely recommend a visit to this landmark of vietnamese history as it was built for the South Vietnam President in 1964, only to be emptied after Ho Chi Minh City was conquered by North Vietnam on the 30th April 1975. The Reunification Palace, in my opinion, was one of the most interesting places I went to while in HCMC. As I am only 24, I really had no idea of what happened in the Vietnam War, so going through this building and seeing how the president lived, and listening to what happened during the war was interesting. Nothing new here but offers an insight into how the president used to live. Tourists are not allowed the enter the rooms, so, have to make do with taking photos from the outside. Can see if you are a first timer in Saigon. more
