It is what it is and the truth is it needs some work and the beggars and moto and tuk-tuk drivers will drive you crazy trying to get in or out. Fix the place up and control the entry way and it could be very nice. Looks good from a distance, but inside is a little on the shabby side.

Don't want to and will not compare it to it's neighbors palaces to the West simply because they are not even close in maintenance and over-all beauty and the attention to detail. Just look at the guards outside and that will give you a pretty good idea of what the scale of perfection is here in Cambodia, but it is... More

One of the main attractions in PP and well worth a visit, do it in the morning if possible as it gets hot!

The buildings aren't particularly old, built in a traditional Khmer style of concrete in the early part of the twentieth century. But certainly impressive, adorned with souring golden nagas and spires, glinting enticingly against the blue sky. It's busy and I have to pay $6.25 to get in. There's also a strict dress code, no knees can be on show... More

it was $6US each and once you got inside pretty much everything was off limited. the royal palace itself was completely blocked off so you had to take pictures from a far distance away. the throne hall was off limited you could only look through the windows. there was a sign that said no photos inside the hall and since... Unless u got a tour guide the buildings mean nothing and there is very little written in English. After Siem Reap temples this palace was less interesting. It does make for beautiful photographs though!

Throughout our tour of the Royal Palace, I could not help but comment about how similar the place is to the Royal Palace in Bangkok. In fact, it is a smaller, less colorful version of it, which does not detract from its beauty. It is interesting, though, how similar the cultures are even in their palace buildings. In any case,... A large and beautful place with so many different things to see, really worth seeing, just a tip, all shoulder and knees need to be covered so make sure you wear long trousers and a top with sleeves.

Just an amazing sight. Extreme wealth and privilege inside, and abject poverty outside. Historically, the previous king, and father of the current king, abdicated from the throne to start up the political party that eventaully became, created and nutured Pol Pot
