That color or colour tells a story of survival now and hopefully forever. And the wine shop around the corner is worth browsing through for cheap and good French wines to take on a picnic.

i don't know the speciality of the stupa except it's made from bricks and located in the center of town :D

The Black Stupa is far from Vientiane's most impressive monument. There are wats and stupas which will occupy much more of your time. Different than other sights and was very close to where I stayed so passed it often on way to Morning Markets. Got teribly lost after being here because streets went around so remember where you are. Worth a visit if passing or want to go out for a stroll.

Easy to see as part of a city walk, it is easily found and outside. A quick walk around and done :) We did get disorientated after walking round this so make sure you know where you are going afterwards. We were off the the morning markets which I highly recommend !!

More of a drive-by event, the stupa is in the middle of a roundabout. Poorly maintained monument, which is a shame.
