You cook five authentic Turkish dishes together with other travellers, under supervision of Eveline and her Turkish chef Feyzi. Our classes are hands-on and fun, as well as informative. They are suitable for both professional chefs and kitchen novices. Afterwards, enjoy your cooking efforts over lunch or dinner with some local wine. We also function as a regular lunch and dinner restaurant, offering a daily-changing four-course menu. Reservations are recommended due to limited space. « less

My wife and I took an evening class at Cooking Alaturka and really recommend it based on our experience. Evelyn does a masterful job of teaching, supervising, and making sure everyone has a great hands-on cooking experience. Eating the food with our classmates was also fun.

This hands on experience taught me a few cooking techniques. I could've learned more, but it was such a rich experience there was so much to absorb! Very engaging. The owner was very friendly and charming and the helpers were humorous. I'm leaving out the best part, the food. It was arguably the best meal I had in Istanbul and... More

My wife (Thai) and I (American but living internationally for 24+ years) are spending a week in Istanbul and decided to take a Turkish cooking class while we are here as we both enjoying cooking and learning new dishes. I chose Cooking Alaturka from other tripadvisor recommendations and it was a very good choice indeed. We arrived before lunch and... More

This was a great experience and those who shared my table raved about the class, the food and how welcomed they felt. I've eaten here numerous times and "perfect" doesn't do justice in describing this afternoon. One of the great things, in addition to the food and atmosphere, is the "adult only" perspective. No distractions from children makes this a... More

Well, I unfortunately can only review the service we received since I didn't even get a chance to try the food since we were rudely kicked out by the snotty owner! I have never felt more belittled in my life! Let me preface all this by saying that my two year old is a normal two year old with normal... More

This incident happened 7 months ago, and yet, I also remember it quite well. You made a reservation that day for 2 persons, not mentioning anything about bringing a two-year old child. We are perfectly upfront about not taking children under 6 for dinner but since you already had made a reservation and seemed so keen to try our food... More

I took a private class one year ago, and was not familiar enough with this website to write report. The class was excellent, therapeutic, educational and fun. I would recommend it without hesitation. My sadness now is that I inadvertently left my entire recipe packet that as given during the class at the grocery store. I have made it many... More

Dear Linda, Thank you for your lovely comments. It is a while ago we cooked together but I remember the nice morning we had! I'm glad you e-mailed me meanwhile to ask for the recipes and that you have received them. Happy cooking!. Eveline More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cooking class at Cooking Alaturka. The staff was fun and friendly, we made new friends, learned new techniques and recipes and enjoyed a great meal. Price for the 5 course meal and class was extremely reasonable. I would definitely recommend this adventure for anyone who likes to cook and have fun in the... More

Professionally presented. Fabulous recipes to take away and try yourself. The best part of the experience is getting to know fellow travellers with a hands on experience cooking amazing Turkish food. It was also great to have the chance to enjoy the meal together with a glass of wine. Highly recommended and in the heart of Sultanahmet.

My husband and I really enjoyed our class. Having traveled and cooked around the world, we didn't come in having any preconceived expectations - Cooking Alaturka pleasantly surprised us and we were happy with the results. We had a substitute teacher/interpreter, and the main Turkish chef, Feyzi - was knowledgeable, funny, and patient (though the communication required facilitation through our... More

I had the great fortune to find Cooking Alaturka in a guide book, and the fact that it was so close to my hotel at the Four Seasons Sultanamet made it even more inticing. The owner is delightful and knowledgeable, and the chef is charming and talented. They are quite a team! I am returning to Istanbul in May and... More
