Worth visiting to try and fathom how it was built - a vast open space, long spans between minimal columns and a huge dome above!

The Blue Mosque was gorgeous, and sitting outside in the evening and listening to the call of prayer and looking at it all lit up was one of my favorite experiences in Istanbul.
Beautiful wonderful building. Amazing interior . At night looks beautiful from anywhere in Istanbul. Amazing carpet and lights inside
Visited this masjid during the day with a small group- was busy but as other reviewers have pointed out- the queues do seem to move quite rapidly. Very beautiful masjid but was not very busy- for prayer use- at our visit. Interior design is also lovely and the beauty is beyond words. It is desirable to wear full length dress...

This mosque is stunning with its elaborate design and craftsmanship! All architects as well as every person in this world need to see this true beauty made by a human!

This is the one that everyone should visit. The experience of removing your shoes, and making sure your head is covered is a novelty to westerners, but one should bow to their customs. In reality, we found the other major mosques of Istanbul to be of greater interest so don't make the Blue Mosque your only mosque visit. The visitor's entrance is on the South side (check the posted hours as they very different from what was in Lonely Planet)
AMAZING!!! absolutely stunning and beautiful. The architecture and the history behind it is awesome. Definitely one of my highlights of the holiday. Night time is even better when the mosque is all lite up!
It was well organised, and free to enter (donation recommended). It was interesting to see the inside of the building, but no info was offered really.
