The museum is well laid out and self explanatory. If you have visited several of the many sites in Anatolia then here you can organise your confused information

Wonderful collections spanning thousands of years of habitation and cultures. If you're interested in this sort of museum experience, allow many hours. Huge collection of archeological treasures in beautiful buildings. We saw pieces there from Greece that were better than any we saw in Greece! It is a very easy walk from Hagia Sophia and next to the park.

The museum surprised me with its quality and its number of amazing artifacts it has. Well worth the price of admission. If you are a history buff this is a must see!

It's a huge museum actually - I wouldn't attempt it all in one go as you might get bored. Sarcophagi are amazing. Also interesting bit on the history of Istanbul...
