A good contrast to the Blue Mosque and location is beautiful.

When you get off the boat at Eminönü you find yourself directly in front of the Yeni Mosque, which is beautifully crafted. The interesting part here is that while you can't enter the Blue Mosque during prayer, you can do so at the Yeni Mosque (just be quiet and respect the people) so the experience is extra special.

the inside of the new mosque is spectacular but is spoilt by the dirty appearance from the outside especially from all the pigeon droppings

The New Mosque is situated near the Galata Bridge and Ferry Terminals and you can see very easily from all across the Golden Horn. I've visited it during Ramadam and it was very crowded, but I was amazed by it's beauty. In front of the mosque there are a lot of pigeons.

One of the numerous mosques, its central location making it a famous sight. Nothing special about it, really.

See Blue Mosque, Fatih Mosque and Sulyemaniye Mosque for the best. New Mosque comes in forth but next to Spice Bazaar, Galata Bridge and Ferry terminals is a plus

The "New Mosque" (Yeni Cami), is located looking out to the Galata Bridge and is officially known as the Mosque of the Valide Sultan (Queen Mother) because it was commissioned by Safiye, mother of Sultan Mehmet III in 1597 but was not finished until 1663. This is more of an everyday mosque than the Blue Mosque but is just as... More

People just talk about the Blue Mosque and the Aya Sofia, but we really should pay attention to oder less touristy but also very beautiful sites, like that underestimated, huge and beautiful Mosque, very close to the Galata bridge, right next to the Spicy Bazar.
