Haydarpasa train station is the station that until recently served all trains headed east, and now just has commuter trains as Turkey is upgrading its long-distance rail service. It is a beautiful historical building that has been admired by many, included the beloved Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet.

Pros: its easy to get to and all taxi drivers know it. Cons: no sitting areas and you have to wait for around 20 minutes to go somewhere. recommend: take a boat to Buyuk ada knwon as the princess island.

Haydarpasa station is a splendid edifice. Completed in 1909, it was the Asian terminus of the Berlin to Baghdad railway. If you arrive by night on the ferry from Karakoy for the Ankara night train, you will mount the steps of the beautifully illuminated building to arrive at the ticket office. The station is efficient and sparklingly clean and our... More

This wonderful historic building reminds me the cohesion and separation. Also I always want to see it as an excellent hotel.

Hyderpasha is the place we went when we had to take a train ride from Istanbul to Konya. The station is like a huge castle, with trains and ferries departing and arriving from various locations. The only drawback is there is little facility for taking luggage up the stairs, hence carry a light load if you can. The terminal houses... More

I've been wanting to try the turkish train, so I decided one day to come to the main train terminal of Istanbul called Haydarpasha Terminal. I took the ferry from Eminonu to the terminal which I suddenly realized is the building that I passed by more than a coupe of times on board a ferry. The terminal looks like a... More

Haydarpaşa Terminal, the last train station for all trains coming from Asia to Istanbul, is a wonderfull building. There are plans over turning it into a hotel but the historical meaning of the building make it a very controversial discussion topic. Unfortunately, there are not too many options to enjoy this lovely place (both in terms of view and architecture)... More
