Only one pillar remains standing, but if you have a good imagination you'll be able to picture the grandeur it must've once had. You can also get a shot of three religions in one place-- the byzantine castle, the modern mosque, and the pillar of Artemis. Beware the lurking tour guides, especially if you're a solo female traveler. Their tour... More

It's really no big thing, it's just a big pillar. But... why not going? 1) It's what's left from one of the wonders of the ancient world 2) It's free 3) It's on the way to Ephesus Go for just a quick stop.

Yes, it isn't well maintained and it is just a pillar but it is free and you can roam around the area at your leisure. If you are a fan of the Ancient world this is a nice stop on your walk to Ephesus and the Cave of the Seven Sleepers.

Not much here and it is poorly maintained. There is a lot of garbage here on the the ground, we didn't see this any where else really. Also a lot of "vendors", selling "old coins". The site is just a reconstructed pillar.

The Temple of Artemis is cool, because you can roam around and explore and touch the ruins, but it is in terrible condition and desprately needs to be cleaned up.

One tall, reconstructed tower in a large field requires a great deal of imagination to find this interesting. As my tour guide noted, most people find the birds there more interesting.

We decided to go just because it had be one of the wonders of the ancient world. Absolutely don't go, unless you happen to be driving right past it. If they begin to reconstruct it, it could be amazing, but as it is, one column, messy field, it's almost impossible to imagine how it once was.

I was actually not expecting much at all BUT you DO really get a sense of the Size based on the foundations which are outlined and the size of the remaining column. The whole visit takes only a few minutes. Downside - Vendors assailing you as soon as you arrive selling books and coins (which I understand are all fake).

If you don't spend a few minutes visiting the site, you wouldn't know that you didn't miss much, would you? I'm glad I saw it. Would not go again if I were in the area.

I was more interested in the water snake in the nearby pond! Go if you're close by as it's free, but don't go to the area especially for this!
