The place is important for Jewish believers, actually there is very little proof that this cave is connected to the prophet Elijah who had to hide in the area because of his prophecies against the sinners who worshiped the local idol - Baal.
Poorly managed site. Seems they do not need or understand the tourist phenomenon.
